HaMoreh Ministries and Dr. Jamie Johns

Dr. Jamie and Mimi Johns
In 2005, founder Jamie Johns began teaching as a missionary faculty member at universities and seminaries in the Nairobi, Kenya area and preaching regularly throughout Kenya. Co-founder Mimi Johns began volunteering in libraries, restoring aged books to usable condition. Jamie and Mimi have now taught and have provided leadership to hundreds of African students, teachers, and preachers and continue to tutor, mentor and resource these young African brothers and sisters.

Jamie’s American university students and other friends from the United States have now joined HaMoreh’s ongoing work in East Africa. HaMoreh’s ministry of teaching, mentoring, and providing resources has just begun….

HaMoreh

Jamie founded HaMoreh Ministries because of a deep desire to help God's people around the world learn to enjoy him more fully.

It is the hope and heart of HaMoreh to be used by God in helping people around the world to enjoy God more through being transformed by the renewing of their minds.

HaMoreh is translated, “the teacher,” and is based on the Hebrew of Job 36:22, “Behold, God is exalted in His power; Who is a teacher like Him?”

HaMoreh Ministries exists to be used by God in glorifying Jesus Christ through the power of His Holy Spirit. They share in the belief that God is most supremely glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him. Their passion and purpose is to labor with God in bringing all nations to worship Jesus Christ.

They seek to evangelize the lost and to educate Christians. Their aim is to be used by the Holy Spirit in helping others not to be conformed to the thinking of our present age but to be transformed by the Holy Spirit’s renewing of their minds so that they may live out the will of God in obedience and ever increasing joy.

HaMoreh's Mission

HaMoreh exists to evangelize the lost through the equipping of Christian leaders by:
  • Teaching courses, lecturing, and preaching
  • Mentoring teachers and preachers
  • Providing resources to learners, leaders, and learning centers

HaMoreh grows gifted teachers and preachers by purposefully and methodically training young, gifted teachers and preachers in mentoring relationships. Modeling biblical relationships and following biblical principles of discipleship yields encouraged and equipped leaders for the future.

Mentoring efforts include team teaching, apprenticeships, shared responsibilities as well as regular assessment and feedback. HaMoreh presently mentors both Americans and Africans to exercise their gifts in ministering to the poor and needy.
