7478 - Heaven For Sure

Audio transcript

Join us today as we talk about Heaven — the dwelling place where all believers of all time will dwell through eternity.

On the night before the crucifixion Jesus said to those gathered with Him (John 14:2-3):

“In my Father’s house are many mansions; If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” (KJV)

This is the passage most often used to give assurance to each believer that they will enjoy unbroken fellowship with our Lord — and of course, each other — throughout eternity.

Listen to this SONlight spot which illustrates how Christians delight in looking forward to entering Heaven.

What do you know about Heaven?

From Scripture we know it will be a perfect environment in which joy and harmony will prevail. We know there will be no tears — there will be nothing to cause tears. There will be no more death or mourning or pain (Rev. 22:4). Neither will there be any sin. Nothing like it has ever existed before.

And we also know that every citizen in Heaven who has passed through the experience of earth will have a distinct appearance. Romans (8:29) tells us that God has predestined every believer to be conformed to the likeness of His Son. This conforming process begins and continues while we pass through this earthly boot-camp. But we are told in 1 John (3:2) that when Jesus appears we shall be like Him so the process will be completed.

Heaven will not be a place of boredom. In Revelation (22:3) we are reminded that we will have the privilege of serving God the Father and Jesus Christ while we enjoy the Heavenly ambiance.

We have no fear such as one of my young friends of past years. After Jeff became a believer he said to me, “I’m not sure I want to go to heaven.” Of course, I asked “Why?” And he replied, “I don’t want to just sit around in a rocking chair all day long.” Jeff knew little about heaven. He’s now matured some, so today he looks forward to the heavenly society.

Friend, much about heaven remains a mystery to believers. But we do know from Scripture that it is a glorious place. Christians throughout the world look forward to entering this place where their Savior and Lord resides.

We also know that admission to Heaven is high. It is through faith in the work and person of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12) that we gain admission. We can never do enough good deeds to earn entry. Prestige, power and position have no value for admission.

You see, no evil can ever be admitted into Heaven. Only those who through faith have confessed their sinfulness and have received forgiveness through the blood of Jesus Christ (Eph. 1:20) will gain entry.

Such people have been cleansed and made perfect through the blood of Jesus.

How about you? Perhaps you have never bowed before Jesus, confessed you are a sinner and asked for forgiveness and cleansing. You can do that right now. Talk to Jesus. Settle this issue, so you can qualify for entry to heaven. Your life down here will be better also.
